Shein presents an Exchange resale platform in the United Kingdom and Europe
Shein Exchange is a reality in Europe and the United Kingdom, and at the same time launches its product reselling application in France.
The integrated online resale platform is exclusive for used Shein products. The first country will be France, and it will extend to the United Kingdom and Germany for its next stage of expansion.
This is the next big step since the opening of the resale channel in the United States in October 2022. Shein Exchange has a user-friendly interface and automatically lists the user’s previous purchases thanks to its “sell” button. In addition, it has search and filtering tools.
In the USA alone, in 2023, the platform had 115,000 used items offered for sale by more than 95,000 unique sellers.
Research carried out by the brand itself reveals that the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Brazil prefer to buy second-hand clothes to support sustainability and circular fashion.
“As a member of the World Circular Textiles Day community, we know there is much work to be done to achieve a fully circular textile future by 2050,” Caitrin Watson, Shein’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said in a statement. “Shein continues to integrate circular practices into our business model by increasing the use of recycled and salvaged materials, while designing platforms and programs to help extend the life cycle of our products.”
“By extending our Shein Exchange platform to Europe and the UK, we hope to offer more members of our global customer community ways to easily participate in the circular economy and promote the environmental benefits of buying second-hand instead of buying new products. Shein Exchange to new markets, we remain committed to collecting user feedback and finding ways to improve this program and improve the user experience on the platform.”
