Levi’s and Nigo launch capsule collection
The creative director of the legendary Kenzo, known as Nigo, brings his talent to streetwear fashion in collaboration with the American Levi’s.
In the creative’s own manifestos, Nigo has been inspired by his teenage years and has created a capsule collection for this Fall 2023. His proposal consists of twenty garments and accessories, which mixes the concept of timelessness in work clothing, his own from Levi’s, with the symbolism that characterizes the fashion house.
It stands out that the iconography of the two Levi Strauss & Co. horses has been changed with the Kenzo logo.
Under the “real-to-wear” concept, both pieces and accessories provide functionality, with a balance between Eastern and Western patterns. With a contemporary reinterpretation of classic styles in dresses, jeans and accessories.
It seeks to pay tribute to the roots of Levi Strauss & Co., connecting the philosophy of Kenzo Takada and the current vision of Nigo.
To make the collection even more special and personalized, premium quality Japanese Kaihara denim has been used. Added to this is the traditional Japanese Sashiko sewing technique and the floral print of the “Kenzo Jeans” line, highlighting the craftsmanship by implementing embroidered logos on the back pockets and metal fittings engraved with Kenzo’s renowned Boke flower. The talents of Japanese filmmaker Umi Ishihara and photographer Ryu Ika have been chosen for the campaign. Available at Kenzo boutiques and select Levi’s stores. They can also be found on their respective official websites.
