Jimmy Choo presents new collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier
The collaborative capsule collection called Jimmy Choo x Jean Paul Gaultier, co-designed by the house’s respective creative directors, Sandra Choi and Florence Tétier, is a revolution this fall/winter 2023.
Jimmy Choo has presented its capsule collection with the French house Jean Paul Gaultier. This collaboration merges the DNA of both brands that brings several notable models. In particular, what impresses is that there is a lot of respect and balance, in my opinion (@dannywitko aka @camaleonicas) including the affection and tribute to the cities where they were born and from which both brands are inspired, represented in symbols such as the Eiffel Tower. and Big Ben.
It also highlights the characteristic corsetry of Jean Paul Gaultier, which for the footwear brand, takes its Italian artisans two hours to execute, as they are made with a distinctive double-layer design. In addition to these, there are other styles that have been popular among collections in recent years.
Pieces with metal chains, the trompe l’oeil denim print, the leather and crystal silhouettes, so distinctive, I repeat, in both brands, could not be absent.
Therefore, in her official statement, Sandra Choi, creative director of Jimmy Choo, indicates: “Jean Paul Gaultier is an icon, as a man and as a brand. I have adored his work for as long as I can remember and he has inspired me my entire life in fashion. I was incredibly excited to be able to reinterpret his legacy, the meaning of his work and his world, alongside Florence Tétier through the Jimmy Choo collaboration. What I found was a kindred spirit, both in Gaultier as a house and in Florence as a woman. “We share perspectives and beliefs that we were able to translate into this collection, which celebrates the craftsmanship, the distinctive DNA of these two beloved brands and, appropriately enough, the power and strength of individuality.”
And, as icing on the cake, and if we are talking about icons, Kylie Minogue’s star has been portrayed in this campaign by the French photographer and filmmaker Valentin Herfay. In this campaign, Minogue poses in footwear wearing icons from Gaultier’s archival ready-to-wear.
