Gucci has launched “phygital” products in the metaverse and announces it like this
With the importance in the daily life of people in the Metaverse, the luxury firm Gucci has decided to launch new products for its increasingly growing digital community.
To open new spaces in the metaverse, Gucci has partnered with the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club community, leveraging fictional characters and stories to draw from previous projects and give better benefits to gang fans who will now be able to purchase physical Gucci clothing. .
The project is available from April 6, and is called Otherside: Relics by Gucci, and includes a limited-edition Gucci-branded phygital pendant called the KodaPendant, sold for 450 APE, which is about $1,800.
The story is based on Otherside’s Twitter story thread, and centers on carved blue vials that become pendants. Eligible players must complete a series of tasks as only 3333 are available. The storytelling then continues post-purchase, with trait-spawning pendants unlocking new features in Otherside and access to a physical counterpart hitting stores this summer. This physical pendant will be in the form of a Koda silver pendant with the GG symbol.
It is worth mentioning that Ape and Mutant Ape NFT holders were the first to purchase digital land on the Otherside through a native cryptocurrency called ApeCoin. This partnership with Gucci will be a year-long partnership with BAYC’s parent company, Yuga Labs. This immersive world is similar to an NFT-based game inhabited by creatures called Kodas created by Yuga.
