In the context of NYFW, we spoke with Jaana Diamant, creator of a luxury brand in Dubai, Danjana Fashion, which is making her way onto the world’s major runways.

As a woman, I love to know the proposals and styles of women who are succeeding in the fashion industry around theworld. That is why, knowing a talent like Jaana, is worth telling her vision. I like to tell stories of women who conquer the world (@dannywitko)

Camaleónicas: Tell us about your beginnings, how did you decide to join the world of fashion?

Jaana: I always used to make my own clothes since I learned to sew at the age of 10. My mother is an artist creating art of everything around her so I was always surrounded by beauty and encouraged to use my creativity. When I studied fashion design in  Paris I felt I have found the right pathway to express my creativity with fashion.

C: What does New York mean to you at this point in your career as a designer?

J: Being a part of New York Fashion week is a key milestone as a designer and showcasing my designs internationally symbolizes expanding the sphere of influence and reach for a broader global audience. New York Fashion week has an eclectic urban vibe with an open minded innovative attitude which I love. 

C: What would you bring to the runway to captivate the new yorker audience?

J: My designs for Danjana Fashion New York collection are edgy urban, all black leather looks. Contemporary designs with fierce cuts with unexpected combination of leather to glamour creating evening gowns that have never been seen before.

C: Your pieces are very unique. How would you define the women who wear your designs?

J: Our clients are brilliant brave individuals who dare to shine. Beautiful unique women who express their individuality freely. With Danjana Fashion pieces you will make heads turn so I guess have to be a little bold too… people who are not afraid to stand out. 

C: Do you feel that Dubai inspires you in your collections?

J: I love Dubai and living there definitely is inspiring. Being surrounded by ultra luxury and world’s top class of everything pushes you to strive for your best also. Dubai in itself is a masterpiece created by visionary pioneers who dared to dream big and make it happen for the world to see. As a creative hub, bringing together worlds brightest pioneer spirits, Dubai and it’s inhabitants is always birthing new things and innovative concepts to the world.

C: You keep working, creating, and influencing more people around the world. Which are your next steps? 

J: Next stop on my design journey is Paris Fashion Week at the end of the month. We are also working on a creative project showcasing our collection at the Dubai mall in near future. Meanwhile in Dubai, we have also many luxurious exclusive lined up fir this year where we will be presenting our collections. 

C: Which message can you give to women or young generations if they want to create an international brand?

J: I would like to say whatever you want to do, do it. Be brave and follow your dreams, everything is possible.
