Dior in Mumbai opening us up to a new trend

This runway has been historic for the Dior house. Also in an iconic site for India. Full of celebrities, opulence and the best of art and glamor from two cultures that finally come together in the world of fashion at the highest level.

Under the Gateway of India in Mumbai on Thursday drew a host of local and international celebrities, further positioning Dior as a house focused on crafts and artistic trades.

The LVMH-owned luxury house invited around 850 guests to its 2023 pre-fall show, and the Dior show was followed by an after-party at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. The creative director of Dior’s women’s collections, Maria Grazia Chiuri, was the hostess, who demonstrated that the house is capable of being a chameleon and adapting to styles as traditional and unique as those of this multifaceted culture.

Presenting 99 looks from the pre-fall 2023 collection, the majority of the models were Indian (56 out of 99) and the show paid homage to the country’s crafts, textiles, shapes and color palette. Most impressive was the use of ancient techniques from the well-known state of Tamil Nadu. Like everything, it did not escape having its Parisian touch and minimalist and clean forms gave lightness to the collection.
