PerúEsCafé: a way to connect the “Made in Peru” coffee market with the world
The possibility for Peruvian producers to open themselves to the world is now possible thanks to this platform that gives them a global vision.
At PerúEsCafé.com you will find the profiles of coffee producers from various regions of Peru. The platform lightens the search for contacting them, being able to generate visits and learn more about the different origin coffees.
You can even see the certifications of each product.
We spoke with Dante Acuña, founding partner of PerúEsCafé and he tells us how the idea for this project began: “I have always been a coffee lover here in Peru and China. When I attended coffee fairs I interviewed several coffee growers. They told me that these Recent years have been difficult for the industry, many did not finish selling their annual harvest. They were looking to be included as an exporting company in PromPerú’s Peru Marketplace but they needed to have a website enabled. Due to the creation costs, they abandoned the idea and decided to only keep it. their social networks.”
“We have no doubt about the potential that the Peruvian coffee sector has to be among the top coffee exporting countries.” Dante Acuña
At the moment, the easiest and fastest way to contact is through the website without having to wait for the fairs.
Regarding the market, he also states: “We are developing digital marketing strategies to address both the national and international markets. At the national level, our objective is to increase consumption. We want to change the chip so that the Peruvian consumer understands the benefits of consuming coffee from specialty. We understand that it is a joint task between public and private institutions.” And regarding internationalization he indicates: “Our objective is to showcase the offer of the profiles to the world. We are looking for foreign buyers to be interested in visiting the producer and requesting samples.”
He also adds “A friend wanted to start a specialty coffee shop and needed to buy coffee from different origins. The next coffee fair was in two months, so he had to wait that long to be able to meet coffee producers. Then we came up with the idea of creating a digital place, “a virtual fair”, where buyers can meet new producers, schedule a visit to their farm, search for coffees of different origins, varieties, processes, flavor profiles, etc. On the other hand, this B2B platform had to allow. producers to have a website so they can access the benefits of Peru Marketplace.”
And although it is not an easy job, they have been able to detect the concerns and needs of coffee growers in order to mitigate the sector’s own problems. “One of the most worrying challenges is the absence of public policies to prevent pests and mitigate the effects of climate change. This impacts productivity and generates lower profitability. In addition, there is the reluctance to change among the first and second generations of coffee-growing families. The digital knowledge gap is a challenge in the sector, that is why we focus on the third generation.”
“In this way, trade is facilitated and promoted between national and international producers and buyers. We seek to enhance the supply of Peruvian coffee in Peru and the World by providing technological tools to our producers.” Dante Acuña
