Exclusive Talk: Dóra Zábráczki, a designer with her own free spirit

In this interview, we get to know the creative side of the designer, who presents her brand with its particular style and full of energy: Razabra®.
Camaleónicas: What was your motivation to start in this business?
Dóra: Even as a child, I was interested in how the objects that actually furnish and color our lives are created. This childlike curiosity for handicrafts did not diminish with the passage of time, it merely transformed and became permanent, into passion, humility and respect.
As a start, I graduated in textiles, designed and made clothes and leather came into my life as an adult. I have been designing and making bags and clothing accessories from leather for almost 10 years. Today, it can be said that I have succeeded in creating a Hungarian artisanal product brand: Razabra®


C: What is the meaning of Razabra?
D: Razabra actually came from the middle part of my name, doRAZABRAczki, which shows my personal background and motivation as well. RAZABRA® was born to complement and empower generations, to bring happiness, hope and confidence. The main characteristic of my works are circular motifs and patterns, which symbolize balance and harmony, as we learn and teach this to each other for the rest of our lives.

C: The brand is from Hungary, do you feel the countries culture is also represented in the designs?
D: Hungarian traditions and culture are very important to me, which is why Hungarian folks as a style appeared in my works from the very beginning. Razabra is an independent Hungarian product brand, which is harmonious mixture of folk and modern leather decoration. The realization of the motif-form world, a very ancient embossing process, which I combined with a uniquely developed coloring technique and the design and realization of fashion accessories.
C: People may think that talking about leather is not sustainable. But the reality is that it is one of the noblest materials. How your brand is showing people to break with this taboo?
D: Natural leather is one of the oldest and noblest materials, which at the same time the decorative element and soul of all RAZABRA® products. Crafting the motif itself is a beautiful, loving process that can take 150-330 hours. It is 100% handmade, using a unique and specific plant based dyeing technique, with patterns of embossed leather sculpture, magnificently showing the inimitable, unique and eternal qualities of leather.

C: The specific way you work with materials creates a lifetime piece. You feel that is part of your international recognition?
D: The circular embossed motifs appearing on the RAZABRA® product are the spirit and trademarks of the brand and the main character is the circle -shaped themes,patterns, mandalas, also can be understood on an international level. The circle is also a symbol of the absolute, since it always turns back on itself, it has neither beginning nor end, yet it is complete, so it is perfect. People like to wear, for example, a bracelet, a ring, or ultimately a circle. And the wedding ring is really one of the most expressive circles, because the man and the woman give each other this symbol of infinity as a sign of their love.

D: RAZABRA® was born to complement and strengthen for generations, bringing happiness, hope and confidence. My aim is to create not just for today, but for posterity, something that is not only beautiful, but opens people’s hearts and strengthens their souls. For example my favourite is the dragonfly which itself is change, development, It uses sunlight and light, this will help you to see clearly and overcome your previous beliefs.
C: When you started you said you wanted to create something more than beautiful. After all this time what you think people have learned about your brand and vision? And what are your next steps?
D: I created the Univese collection which debut in New York and already available on the brand international website. I have many plans to be implemented I will come up with a new collections and models like Selence, the new salvation of Universe collection and also working on a men collection to focus their needs as well.
