Barbie takes a big step in inclusion with the launch of a Blind Barbie Doll
The Barbie doll has been made in partnership with the American Foundation for the Blind, celebrating diversity and inclusion.
Barbie Fashionistas is the line that celebrates diversity with infinite possibilities, allowing each child’s personality to be explored through play and fashion. Since its launch, it has become one of the favorite collections for its variety and for always betting on breaking the stereotypes to which the doll brand once accustomed us.
Also called “the most diverse line of dolls” it hopes to continue allowing greater representation, and acceptance by inspiring with its diverse characters.

“We recognize that Barbie is much more than just a doll; she represents self-expression and can create a sense of belonging,” said Krista Berger, senior vice president of Barbie.
For this launch, the company developed its doll in collaboration with the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) to ensure that this model accurately represented people with blindness or low vision.
“As we wrap up Disability Pride Month, we think this is a great way to make kids around the world feel included, regardless of their abilities,” AFB’s Tony Stephens told CBS News.
That is why everything is designed to improve the experience. From fashion, the clothing chosen for the doll is tactile with a pink satin blouse and a textured ruffled skirt with brightly colored hook and loop closures to close on the back of the blouse. Accessories include a white and red cane, stylish and functional sunglasses.
Even the packaging reinforces the “Barbie” insignia in Braille.
A detail that has been done with great respect is the gaze, which is sometimes different in people with this disability, the wrist is looking slightly upward and outward.
Designed for infants from three years old and up.
