It was worth the wait: Davide Renne is the new creative director of Moschino

The news comes after seven months of the departure of Jeremy Scott’s brand. Now Davide Renne will take the reins of Moschino.

Davide Renne, 46, is the new creative director of Moschino. Born in Tuscany, he was the most rumored since Scott’s departure, making Renne the fourth lead designer since the brand was founded.

It is expected that the start of work will be on November 1st.

Renne, who until recently was the head of womenswear design at another Italian favorite, Gucci, shows that he is ready to take on the role after almost 20 years of belonging to this famous brand.

Renne has shown to have a very Italian heart, with his own energy, character and philosophy because in his own statement he marked his philosophical approach, saying: “I do not like fashion that dictates answers; I am more inclined to find the right question, then the “answers come in the designer’s dialogue with our audience: fashion is inherently tailored.” As for Moschino himself, Renne writes: “Franco stops seeming like an outlier only when you consider his work not outside but beyond the boundaries of fashion, as a contemporary artist. He was the creator of a striking modern concept of luxury that still resonates today: his work is present even if he is not here. Franco taught us that fashion cannot be explained, it can only be experienced because it is essentially, intimately, about life, about the world around us. For me, this is the poetry of fashion.”
