The long-awaited play “Spring Awakening” arrives at La Plaza as part of its 20-year program. The adaptation of the German classic, which was written by the playwright Frank Wedekind in 1891, will be on the billboard from Thursday to Tuesday, at the La Plaza theater located in the Larcomar.

The work raises questions that today as a society is still difficult to face. All the characters, both adults and adolescents, are represented by a new generation of talented actors and actresses, who through rebellion and poetry, question the mandates on sexual freedom established through education and religion. Directed by Jorge Castro and whose deputy direction rests with Carla Valdivia. Both were in charge of the adaptation.

In a conservative society, a group of students confront the great issues that mark adolescence: sexual awakening, the transformation of the body, the first disappointments about the adult world, suicide.

“Audiences will be able to see a very powerful and poetic work on adolescent sexual awakening. Curiosity, the desire to think freely and the clash that this curiosity can have, these effervescent desires with an adult world that is very repressive and fearful of dialogue and information. The play is a classic of the German theater, by Frank Wedekind from 1891, we have tried to give it a very visual language, very poetic, in a very choral work with the adolescent actors we are working with”, commented Jorge Castro, director of the production. scene.

Tickets are on sale on the La Plaza website and at the theater box office.
